2D Maps for Resource Management
|
Want to learn about the components
of 2D maps and mapping program options? There are are few basic
steps to making a map:
- One. Start with
a base map to use as a guide ...usually an aerial photo
or other image like an elevation model.
- Two. Add
roads, streams, section lines or other geographic references.
- Three.
Create the shapes, lines and labels that identify the map
theme (e.g., forest cover types, aesthetic management zones,
wildlife habitat types, etc.).
