Steve McConnellSteve conducts research evaluating the effectiveness of forest practices rules agreed to in Washington State in 2001, commonly known as the “Forest and Fish” rules. Almost all of his work is in or pertains to riparian forests. His work supports “Adaptive Management”, an increasingly formal and predictable framework for stakeholders with different interests to work within to collaboratively design and implement a research program, interpret research results and bring them to policy to, potentially, make rule changes based on research results. He has “forestry” degrees as follows from, respectively: PhD, University of Idaho; M.S. Virginia Tech, and B.S. University of Washington along with an AAS in Fisheries Technology from Peninsula College. |
