David grew up in the Midwest but gained a desire to see the world during 4th grade in London. He has twice spent a year living in France, has visited countries in Africa, Asia and Europe, and has plans to visit Australia this summer. He learned about ecology and silviculture in New England. David is a professor in the Department of Forest Science at Oregon State University and directs the Hardwood Silviculture Cooperative and the Cooperative Forest Ecosystem Research program there. He is also a small woodland owner.
